Jyotisha or Jyotishya is a traditional system used by Indian ancient civilizations, rooted in Hinduism. The main pillar of a system is written Vedas and Puranas that have been developed by rishis throughout centuries. We believe that Vedic Astrology originated between 5,000 BC-10,000 BC.
What’s the difference between Western and Vedic Astrology?
- Vedic Astrology is using a fixed zodiac, depending on the star constellation called “Nakshatra”. Vedic Astrology also named “Sidereal Calendar”, it’s a time taken for Earth to revolve around the Sun from the perspective of Chitra Paksha star; and usually, the duration is apparently 20 minutes longer than the tropical year.
- Western Astrology is using Movable signs. It depends on the orientation of Earth to the Sun, which changes applicable every year. That means the degree where the zodiac starts changes every year. It’s also called “A Tropical Callender”.
